A Winter's Tale

Just over one year has passed since Andrew and myself started this blog.
A lot has changed in between, we both have new cameras and enjoy taking photographs even more.
This is our last entry for this year, it's not certain yet if we are going to continue Dublingutterart ( a bit busy) but we do hope you enjoyed every photograph we put up here! And please stay tuned, just in case ;)

old broken bicyle out in the rain...an orphaned duckling eats, its life away...bubbling metal storms and old broken chains...and a hospital doorstep, shelter for pain...sea woods are bounds to a chissled stone wall while an auto-house opera stands silent before a storm...and j.j. arthur has been closed for years...but we still ask the question why modern decay??? restocking...now the new year is upon us and one all are looking to refill those empty shelves...iris was looking through the windows of local food, clothes and book stores...a warm but busy set of prints i must say...while i peered in on our local cobblers and charity shops for a view of restocking that is...different, to say the least...all in all january is a busy month for all with empty shelves and shoes...

december...a time of light...colour...joy...and warmth. everywhere the eye falls, the simple illuminations of a plastic christmas tree on a neighours window cill...to the cascading fairy lights on the town hall facade...to the love in the bows of the gifts that sit under the tree, even the word brings a tingle to the soul...festive...

dun laoghaire...a town built on granite...painted on stone...dressed in metal...my views in stone...

winter was closing in on us...the days getting shorter and we choose the subject of light??? the results are two very different sides of our living canvus, dun laoghaire...iris taking on the night and the warmth of the lights of our streets...a haunting light in a shop window...the yellow glow of the street lamp...and the lonliness of a bedroom bulb...i took a slightly more abstract look at the light of our afternoon sky around our town hall...with an end product that is surprisingly thought provocing...not quite still life in the shadows...

and so the humble beginning of dublin gutter art...sitting on my living room floor like school children tapping away on the keys of my laptop listening to lykke li and that was it...birth...but then there was the matter of our first subject...the decision...black...and the results...as you can see...excellent, iris taking on a solid human look at such a dead end subject and myself going in the opposite diection and being inspired by a haberdashers window...we are both pleased with the result....
